Now - from the title of the movie as well as from the time aspect of the story, this page shouldn't be here.

However - from the *costumes* this page is supposed to be here as well - even if I guess that Queen Isabel's gowns are a bit, uhm, revealing, they still look much Elizabethan...
Plus, one should not forget the fact that Queen Isabella of Spain was the grandmother to Mary Tudor; so in some kind of way the history of the English Royals is interwoven with the history of Spain's monarchy.

Anyway, here are the pictures:

Cut from the movie:
(Interesting, isn't it? The only gown that shows a half-way period Elizabethan neckline (just that the partlet is missing) was cut from the movie (see pictures 1 & 2).)

Found on the web:

Screen captures, sorted by dress:

(note that forepart and 'stomacher' with the crest - dragon or eagle - are the same as on the last gown shown on this site)

(Looking at the last picture, I find myself wondering who of the children was supposed to be Catherine of Aragon, who would later wed Henry VIII. and become mother to Mary Tudor. Comparing this to the picture found on the web, as shown above:

it's probably the little girl standing front left in the first row; the one that seems to sit on the lap of Sigourney Weaver. In the movie picture above, the little girl is standing on the right side next to her father, the hand reaching out to his cloak. Being born in 1485, she should have been about ten years old at the time when Columbus had finished his first journey to "India" and came back to Spain.

Contact: Please write to naergilien@yahoo.de with the word "Costume" in the subject line. My mail server will delete all mails automatically that don't have this word in the subject line; except if you are on my whitelist (which you are probably not if I have never written to you).
It may take me some days to answer - please be patient. If I shouldn't answer within a week, it's almost safe to say that I didn't receive your mail (for what reason ever) - in that case please resend it.

All images of my costumes and also the tutorial pictures as well as the descriptions of my work and various techniques on this site are copyrighted to me.
So don't take my pictures for publishing (e.g. other websites, books etc.; no matter if they are commercial or not) without asking me before you do so and especially not without getting my permission to do this.
My server is mostly set up in a way that it doesn't allow hot linking on images; so if you need to link to me, please link to one of my sites (hint: that's everything ending with ".htm" or "html" in your browser's address bar) on which you found the picture that you would like to link to.

All images of paintings or original movie costumes were not taken by me (except if stated so) and are on this site for educational purposes.
As far as I could, I have credited the original photographers and/or their sites or have mentioned from where I have scanned certain pictures. They remain property of their respective owners.
