Star Wars – Coruscant- or Packing dress

I’ve made this costume from:
– changeant, dark grey Dupioni silk (skirt)
– black rayon velvet (vest)
– light grey silk crepe de chine (sleeves).

The embroidery was adorned with real turquoise cabochons, beads and sequins.

Original costume:

My dress:

Note that some pictures seem to show the gown in different colors – this is just because some pictures were taken in the bright sun, and some ‚just‘ by daylight. The picture showing the sleeve detail gives the most accurate color of the actual materials.

  1. Hey I really like your padme packing dress, especially the embroidary. Could you send me the instructions on the beady part, embroidary? I really need it for my project asap! Thanks 🙂

    • Well, basically it’s very simple:
Use the software that you’re using to punch your machine embroidery designs (aka ‚embroidery software‘ – in my case, Brother’s PE-Design), load a reference image of the original embroidery into the background, and then just start designing your machine embroidery over that.
Thread colors really depend on the brand you’re using.
After you’ve finished the design for the machine embroidery, add the beading manually.
Then sew the embroidered / beaded panel to the vest.
      Finished 😉
