Facts & notes
Blue: ‘Riddick Universe’ facts
Red: movie making facts
Black: Notes by me (naergilien)

[Aereon Narrating] They are an army unlike any other... crusading across the stars toward a place called UnderVerse, their promised land... a constellation of dark new worlds.
Necromongers they're called; and if they cannot convert you, they will kill you.

Leading them: the Lord Marshal. He alone has made a pilgrimage to the gates of the UnderVerse and returned a different being.
Stronger. Stranger.
Half alive and half... something else.

If we are to survive, a new balance must be found. In normal times, evil would be fought by good.
But in times like these, well, it should be fought by another kind of evil.

"

Conquest icons are two thousand feet tall and a single one of them can destroy a small planet. More than anything else, the Conquest Icon is a Necromonger victory totem.
Necromonger statues are based on he sculptures of Adolfo Wildt.
Necromongers no longer have a home planet. They subsist entirely on what they have managed to build on their ships.
Naphemil the Navigator, the third Lord Marshal, is credited with the birth of the Necromongers nomadic culture.
Underverse was discovered by the first Lord Marshal, Corvu the Transcendend.
The Necromongers believe death is the next phase of life and use this as justification for their acts of destruction.
As the first act of any Lord Marshal, there is a pilgrimage to The Threshold.
Toombs Linin' him up for you. Port-side shot comin' up.
Steady. Here we go.

Steady.

Take it. Take it.! Take the shot!

Shit!

" Planet 6 in the UV system is made up of land areas called 'Fingerprint Terrain'.

The feeble sun orbiting Planet U-V- 6 casts ultra-violet light which is what makes it glow unnaturally.

Riddick managed to hide on this planet for 5 years before he was found. If asked, Riddick would say that he was 'hiding from himself'.

Navigator Toombs, we're runnin' out of road! " Merc ships are called Skiffs. They are crewed typically by four: A capitain, a navigator and two gunners. The gunner harnesses on modern skiffs are made to allow for maximum mobility and are not engineered to withstand excessive force.

Twohy envisioned the merc ships as being pieced together from old, salvaged spaceship parts.

Question I’ve always asked myself:
Where the hell is the loo on a skiff? (and what does the loo on a Necro ship look like, if a Necro in full armor can sit on it without breaking it?
And what the hell is that black stuff that's showing up when a Necro ship takes off? Do they all flush their loos at the same time then to make it take off or what...? Questions over questions, one sillier than the one before...)

Toombs Shut up! I got it! Again!
Now!
" The skiff was probably stolen from a merc ship called Kubla Khan, where Toombs first encountered Riddick. The encounter is chronicled in the animated prequel "TCoR: Dark Fury
Navigator Toombs! "
Riddick (Growls for being shot) "
Toombs Riddick. "
Tags I don't know, Toombs. Looks kinda tight. "
Toombs Not where I'm sittin'.

This is the biggest payday ever, so throw on a fresh pair of panties, let's get this right.

"
Navigator Three meters clearance port-side... One and a half meters starboard. We got a choke point comin' up. "
(Riddick cuts gunner on left side of skiff off)
Navigator What the shit was that? "
Toombs Tags, you got eyes on Riddick? ...Tags? "
(Both look to ‘Tags’ on the right side, but there’s nothing on that side... just a dangling, empty harness)
Navigator Jesus. He just ghosted two guys, and I never even saw him. What do you think, Toombs? I mean, maybe we oughta just... "
Toombs I think you're my new gunner. Grab a Gat. Stay on top of him this time. "
(Riddick is already on top of the skiff, pulling the navigator out of the opened door, throwing him to the far ground. Toombs is busy with the switches, when suddenly Riddick is sitting in the skiff.
Riddick You made three mistakes:
First, you took the job.
Second, you came light. A four-man crew for me? Fuckin' insulting.
But the worst mistake you made... Empty gun rack.
You made three mistakes:
First, you took the job.
Second, you came light. A four-man crew for me? Fuckin' insulting.
But the worst mistake you made... That’s right - Empty gun rack.
(Riddick and Toombs fight for a short moment)
Riddick What's the bounty on my head? "
Toombs One mil. - One-point-five. " The original bounty was only 850K.
Riddick What slam pays one point five for a convict? "
Toombs Private party. "
(Riddick cuts open Toombs ctousers)
Toombs Hey, hey, hey, hey! Guy, guy! Easy! Anonymous - That's what the sheet said. "
Riddick What planet? "
Toombs Helion Prime. "
(Toombs wants to run away)
Riddick Whoa. Where you goin'?
Last question - and you better get this one right, merc. Whose ship is this?
"
Toombs Mine? "
Riddick Line missing Wrong answer.
(We see Toombs dropping out of the skiff, landing on top of the unlucky Navigator who just got up) Doing a stunt on Planet UV, Nick Chinlund (Toombs) accidentally swallowed one of his fake teeth.
(Aboard the skiff, Riddick getting ready to go into Cryo sleep by attaching an apparature to his arm which swaps the red blood with blue liquid) – this is moved to a later point of time in the director’s cut Before the events in Pitch Black, Richard B. Riddick was in the military, which would explain why he is such a proficient pilot.
[Riddick Narrating] Knew they'd come for me. Took 'em five years, but I knew. You don't expect these mercs to have any honor, any code.
But this new bounty from a holy man, a guy whose neck I saved... Well, lesson learned. No such word as "friend.'"
Can only end bad when you let someone get too close. [Chuckles] Bad for them.
So now it's back to all the brightness... and everything I hate. Wonder if she'll be there.
Knew they'd come for me.
So now it's back to civilization, all the brightness... and everything I hate. Just wanted to be left alone
(Crematoria Scene, in the hellhound’s cage room) This entire scene doesn’t exist in the theatrical version
(Bald ward) Act like an animal and I'm gonna slot you up like one.
(Big ward) This one is always in trouble. I knew it! I smell it.
(Black guard) Get in there!
Kyra (to the hellhounds) Can we shut the goddamn noise?
(Aboard the skiff, Riddick getting ready to go into Cryo sleep by attaching an apparature to his arm which swaps the red blood with blue liquid) See above.
[Riddick Narrating] They say most of your brain shuts down in cryosleep. This entire scene doesn’t exist in the theatrical version Exact line from Pitch Black.
[Woman's Voice, Distorted] Brain shuts down in cryosleep.
[Riddick Narrating] All but the primitive side. Exact line from Pitch Black.
[Woman] All but the primitive side.
[Riddick Narrating] The animal side. Exact line from Pitch Black.
Shirah All but the Furyan side.
Some of us still remember the true crime that happened here on Furya.
And once you wake... truly wake... you'll remember too.
[Woman Over Radio] Helion Prime is on alert condition four. "
Elite guard of Helion Prime Unrecognized craft - ou need to follow me to Spaceport Six for security inspections. Hey! Do you hear me?
Follow me to Spaceport Six now!
"
Riddick Line missing Follow this!
(Riddick bumps the other ship off) The scene of Riddick flying over Helion's surface, zigzagging around the beacons, really looks as if it has been rendered in Bryce; and not even by a professional, but with standard terrain settings. Honestly.
(Street scene on Helion, Imam walking the streets of New Mecca) Imam, pray for us.
[Woman] It was confirmed two seasons back. Yes.
[Woman # ] They're coming here. I mean, are we next?
[Man] Militants storm...
[Woman # ] Yes. But going to the underground shelters if it happens...
[Man # ] You're right. That's what I thought too.
[Man # ]Are you staying or leaving?
[Man # ] It's the end of everything. Everything.!
[Man # ] Well, my neighbors...
[Man # ] Half my street is gone. What are we gonna do?
I don't know. I don't know.
[Woman # ] Hood of the devil. That's what someone called 'em.
Them? Who is them?
Some kind of new creature...
This is nonsense.
It's all nonsense.
[Man # ] So tall that it touches the clouds. And there's nothing around this statue, this colossus. Nothing left. It's their calling card.
(Scene is much shorter in the theatrical cut. You especially can’t understand anything that’s said by the New Meccan citizens.) Helion Prime is one of six planets in the Helion system.

The surface of Helion Prime consists largely of sand dunes and an ocean of green water.

The economy of Helion Prime is based on the brokering of light. This explains the titanic solar beacons spotting the planet's surface.

The architecture of New Mecca is based on sand, glass and water - all of which is abundant supply on Helion Prime.

His home on New Mecca gets its name because the sacred black stone in the Meccan temple on Earth was split in two as humans moved further into space.

After Pitch black, Riddick left Jack with Imam on New Mecca and then left to put himself into self imposed exile on Planet U.V.6.

Riddick Did you know all your doors were locked?
Five years ago, I took two people off that planet...
A kid, Jack, who everyone else thought was a boy, and a holy man... searching for New Mecca.
Your wife... She's in the shower.
I told one man... where I might go. I showed trust to one man.
Did I make a mistake, Imam?
Did you know all your doors were locked?

A kid, Jack, who everyone else thought was a boy, and a holy man... searching for New Mecca.
I told one man... where I might go. I showed trust to one man.
Did I make a mistake, Imam?
Why does it seem so important to Riddick that he mentions the 'doors being locked' to Imam?
The answer is simple - in an islamic household, the doors are usually never locked because visitors are always welcome. It seems that the Chrislam, the religion being practiced in the Riddick universe, has the same customs so that a locked door even makes Riddick wonder.

There were four complete rooms built on set for Imam's house. They were built in a modular way so that walls could be removed any time to get shots from every angle.

Imam There is no simple answer.
Whatever was said was meant to give us a chance... a fighting chance.
Were it not for the threat of invasion, I never would have betrayed you. I give you my word, Riddick.

"

The people of helion Prime put up the money for the increased bounty on Riddick's head.
Ziza Riddick? Line missing
Lajjun Riddick! "
Riddick And a daughter... "
Lajjun No! "
Riddick Whose name would be... "
Imam If you have issue with me, you let it be with me.
You need not know their names.
"
Ziza Ziza. My name is Ziza. "
Riddick Ziza. Cute kid. "
Ziza Did you really kill monsters? The ones that were gonna hurt my father? "
Imam Such are our bedtime stories. "
Lajjun Go, Ziza. Go on! "
Riddick So now who do I have to kill to get this payday off my head? "
Imam It is said the comet always precedes them... these world-enders.
The Coalsack planets are gone. Eight million settlers missing.
The entire Aquilan System is gone too.
Helion Prime shares its sunlight with all worlds nearby. If we fall, they fall. And after that...
My God, how do I save my family?
Have you heard anything I've said?
It is said the comet always precedes them... these world-enders.
The Coalsack planets are gone. Eight million settlers missing.
The entire Aquilan System is gone too.
My God, how do I save my family?
Have you heard anything I've said?
Riddick You said it's all circling the drain... the whole universe. Right? "
Imam That's right. "
Riddick Had to end sometime. "
(Visitors arrive)
Imam The one you want is now here. "
Riddick And whose throat is this? "
Aereon If you cut my throat, I'll not be able to rescind the offer that brought you here. Nor tell you why it's so vital that you did come. " Vin Diesel always wanted to work with Dame Judi Dench, and as a result, tailored the role of Aereon specifically for her. He first approached her to consider this role by filling her London stage dressing room with roses.
Riddick The blade comes off when the bounty comes off. "
Imam This is Aereon, an envoy from the Elemental race.
She means you no harm.
"
Aereon There are very few of us who have met a Necromonger and lived to speak of it. So when I choose to speak of it, you should choose to listen. " Aereon is an air elemental and is only visible when the air is still around her.

More can be learned about Riddick and the Furyan race in 'TCoR: Escape from Butcher Bay".

Riddick Necromonger? "
Aereon It is the name that will convert or kill every last human life... unless the universe can rebalance itself. It is the name that will convert or kill every last human life... unless Furyan warriors are found. They were the one race that would not bow. The only race the Necromongers still fear.
Riddick Maybe you should pretend like you're talkin' to someone educated in the penal system. In fact, don't pretend.

"

Aereon Balance is everything to elementals.
Water to fire. Earth to air. We have 33 different words for it.
But now we have only time to speak of the balance of opposites.
Line missing
Imam There is a story, Riddick, of young male Furyans... strangled at birth... strangled with their own cords. When Aereon told this story to the Helion leaders, I told her of you. " The strangling of the male furyan children is known as the 'Great Infanticide'.
Visitor What do you know of your early years? "
Imam Do you remember your home world? Where it was? "
Visitor Have you met any others? "
Aereon Others like yourself? "
Riddick Sister, they don't know what to do with just one of me. "
Aereon

Soldier, knocking at the door Open up in there.! "
Lajjun They are searching houses! "
Imam Shh! "
Lajjun They look for a man who came here today. They think he might be a spy. "
Imam A spy? "
Lajjun Did someone see him come here today? Did they? "
Imam Lajjun, stop.!
I will send them away. But wait one minute, please.
Will you wait one minute to save worlds?
"
Riddick Not my fight! "
Imam So, you will leave us to our fate, just like you did her. "
Soldier Break it down! "
Imam (to visitors and wife) Come. Let us try to send them away. "
Soldier Move it. Come on. "
Lajjun Leave us alone! There is no one here! "
Visitor You don't understand. He can help us! He can help us! "
Soldier Go! "
Riddick You're not afraid of the dark, are you? You're not afraid of the dark, are you? The light... hurts my eyes. The purple tone is called 'Riddick Vision' - what he sees due to his eyeshine.

The 'not afraid of the dark...' line is an exact line from 'Pitch Black'.

Soldiers Get him!

Where is he? In there!

" Riddick's fighting style is a brutal variation on the martial art of Kali.
Riddick You mentioned her. "
Imam She, uh... She went looking for you. People died. She went to prison. L... I don't remember where. But it was a world so hot you not survive on the surface. She, uh... She went looking for you. People died. She went to prison. I’m not sure where... it was a world so hot you couldn’t set foot on the surface.
Riddick Crematoria. "
Imam Young Jack. She thought of you as her older brother. She worshipped you. "
Riddick You were supposed to watch her. "
Imam She never forgave you... for leaving just when she needed you most. "
Riddick She needed to stay away from me.
You all do.
"
Ziza Riddick! Are you gonna stop the new monsters now? "
Aereon Furyans. Defiant to the end. "
Imam No, no. We go to the shelter. We take only ourselves.

Stay close.

"
Helion air patrol Flight leaders, get all squads off the ground now! We have heavy inbound.

Follow me in !

" The Necromongers chose to conquer Helion Prime first believing that without their light source the other five planets would fall more quickly.
Necro fighters are typically released en masse to clear airspace for incoming warrior ships.

The Necro sarcophargus ship is used solely as a troop transport.
Imam The next shelter! This way! "
Pilots Yeah! Whoo-hoo.! "
Imam I'll see if it's safe. Stay back! "

Riddick When it's over. "

Riddick When it's over.
I borrowed a ship. You can ride along, if you don't mind riding with a convict.
When it's over! The cafe area of New Mecca became known by the crew as the 'Battle square'. The set of New Mecca had so many intricate alleys that the crew would often get lost.
Imam I thank you, but I must get my family across the river. God willing, there is still a shelter I can get them... Line missing
Riddick I'm sure God has his tricks, but getting out of places no one else can, that's one of mine.
Let's get your family.
Let's get your family.
Imam In here. Get in. Shh. "
Lensor Imam! " Necro Lensors are the 'Bloodhounds' of the Necromongers, used to sniff out life. They entirely lack free will and are controlled via a cable which interfaces with a handheld unit. They respond to heat signatures and sound and store their vision in memory, which may be accessed at any time. The actors inside the Lensor costumes were skilled in body movement, some were from Cirque du Soleil.
Imam Don't follow me. "
Imam There will be an afterlife for me.
Will there be for you?
" While the Necro troops do have guns it is more honorable to kill with wielded weapons. They do not believe in clean armor. The more damage you show, the greater warrior you are.

Necro troops make especially effective fighters because they find honor in death and are unable to feel pain.

Lord Marshal Let's go replenish the ranks. "
Dame Vaako Never fails to inspire, does it? Each time a dynasty falls. " The spine motif in all Necromonger costumes relates to the early notion of purification through the spine. The concept changed, the motif stuck.
Vaako Remember your place, Dame Vaako. "
Dame Vaako My place is at your side, dear husband. From here till UnderVerse come. "
Purifier In this 'verse, life is antagonistic to the natural state.
Here, humans in all their various races are a spontaneous outbreak... an unguided mistake.

Our purpose is to correct that mistake.
Because there is another 'verse...a 'verse where life is welcomed and cherished. A ravishing, ever-new place called UnderVerse.
But the road to that 'verse... crosses over the threshold.
In this ‘verse, humans have been fractured. Divided by all their many races, creeds and mistaken faiths.
Our purpose is to correct that mistake.
Because there is another 'verse... another universe that he has found. Where anyone can begin anew. Where you can live free of pain, a perfect new place, called UnderVerse.
Note that all reference to the 'threshold' has been removed from the theatrical cut; not just in this scene but also in later ones.
That word is pretty frequently used in the Director's cut, but never in the theatrical version.

Also note the different meaning of what the Purifier and also the Lord Marshal say in the two versions.
In the theatrical cut it sounds as if the Necros were to 'unite' all human races, in the Director's cut, however, it sounds as if the Necros want to eliminate all human life.

Necro soldiers Threshold! Take us to the threshold! Line missing
Lord Marshal What you call... death. Line missing
Purifier So it is this 'verse that must be cleansed of life, so that UnderVerse can populate and prosper. Line missing
Lord Marshal Look around you. Every Necromonger in this hall, every one of the Legion Vast that just swept aside your defenses in one night... was once like you.
Fought as feebly as you.
Every Necromonger that lives today...is a convert.
Look around you. Every Necromonger in this hall, every one of the Legion Vast that just swept aside your defenses in one night... was once like you.
Fought as feebly as you.
Because every Necromonger that lives today...is a convert.
(Helion citizen) There'll be no conversions! Line missing
Purifier We all began as something else!
It was hard for me to accept, too, when I first heard these words.
But I changed. I let them take away my pain.
"
(Helion citizen) You betrayed your faith! "
Purifier Just as you will change... when you realize that the threshold to the UnderVerse will be crossed... only by those who have embraced the Necromonger faith.
For those of you who will right now... drop to your knees and ask to be purified.
And I changed... just as you will change... when you realize that the UnderVerse will be reached only by those who have embraced the Necromonger faith.
For those of you who will right now... drop to your knees and ask to be purified.
(Helion citizen) We will not renounce our faith! No one here will do what you ask. It is unthinkable!
This is a world of many people, many religions! And we simply cannot and will not be converted!
"
Lord Marshal Then I'll take your soul.
Join him... Or join me.
" The Lord Marshal's astral self can easily pass through matter making it a simple task to remove a person's soul. It also has intense physical properties and can inflict force and pain to others.

His given name is 'Zhylaw the Last'.

Vaako This is your one chance. Take the Lord Marshal's offer and bow. "
Riddick I bow to no man. "
Vaako He's not a man. He's the holy Half-Dead who has seen the UnderVerse. He's not a man. He's the holy Half-Dead who has seen the UnderVerse and returned with powers you can’t imagine.
Riddick Look, I'm not with everyone here. But I will take a piece of him (points at Irgun, who killed Imam)

"

Irgun is one of the Necromonger's fiercest warriors, carrying a ceremonial poll axe. He keeps the knife in his back as a trophy and a constant reminder fo pain. He serves under Vaako as his first.

He is considered one of the fiercest of the Necros. The knife in his back cannot be removed by just any man. For this reason, the ease with which Riddick removes the blade is particularly significant.

Vaako A piece you’ll have. The piece you’ll have
Lord Marshal Stop him! Irgun. One of my best. "
Riddick If you say so. "
Lord Marshal What do you think of this blade? " The act of the Lord Marshal handling the blade to Riddick is a test.

Just a pity the movie makers forgot to mention what kind of test...

Riddick I think it's a half-gram heavy on the back end. "
Lord Marshal In our faith, you keep what you kill.
Are you familiar to me? Have we met on some distant field?
In our faith, you keep what you kill.
Riddick You'd think I'd remember. Line missing
Lord Marshal You'd think I would too.
Take him before the Quasi-Deads.
Take him back to my ship for mind regression.
Dame Vaako Perhaps the breeder would do it... if somebody just asked him.
It is a rare offer. A visit inside Necropolis.
" The term 'breeder' is applied to all non-Necros.
Riddick It's been a long time since I smelled beautiful. "
Dame Vaako Let me show you the way.

Beautiful eyes. Come.

The last six Lord Marshals have called this home. Magnificent, isn't it?

" The Lord Marshal's great hall is called the Necropolis. It was originally built on Mount Asylum by Covo, the first Lord Marshal. The stained glass around the Basilica and the floor design detail past Necromonger crusades, much likely to medieval tapestries.
Riddick I might have gone a different way. "
Purifier True of us all.
Converts receiving the mark of the Necromonger. They learn how one pain can lessen another.
"
Dame Vaako There now. That is just... perfect.
The more you resist them, the greater the damage will be.
"

Riddick Butcher Bay. Ten minutes every other day on the dog run. Protein waffles aren't bad. " Butcher Bay used to be a triple max slam but was downgraded after Riddick escaped as featured in the Videogame 'TCoR: Escape from Butcher Bay'.
Toombs Hey, how 'bout Ursa Luna? Nice little double-max prison. "
Riddick They keep a cell open for me... just in case I drop in. "
Toombs You know the problem with these joints now? Health clubs for waffle-eatin' pussies. Maybe we should think about uppin' our game here a little bit. Think about someplace truly diabolical. "
Logan What the hell is he thinkin' now? "
Riddick He's thinkin' a triple-max prison. A no-daylight slam, only three of' ‘em left in this system... two of' ‘em outta range for a shitty little undercutter like this one with no legs.

Riddick Don't know about this new crew of yours... They seem a bit skittish. Probably shouldn't tell 'em what happened to the last crew. " Toombs has a reputation for losing crews. He's lost at least two that are documented, and it is implied that he lost several more.
Toombs You know, you’re supposed to be some slick-shit killer. Now look at you... all back-of-the-bus and shit. "
Toal I say we attack Helion Two next. Take it straight into their teeth. It'll cost you 20.000 heads, five warrior ships. Nothing more, I swear it. "
Lord Marshal While I do prize brute force, this approach is perhaps more artful:
Start at the end. Go straight to Helion Five, the last planet in the system. We approach from the night side. Remove these cannons first, then attack the larger placements at speed.
We'll catch them on their rear flank.
And in ten days time, the rest of those worlds will tumble before us.
You see, as with most, their blind spot... is right behind them.
"
Vaako I've located an ion trail which leads off-world. "
Lord Marshal Then you should be off-world, Vaako. "
Vaako I've deployed a tracker team. One of the best. "
Lord Marshal Wherever Riddick has gone, you lens him out and cleanse him. You. "
Vaako You want me to take a frigate for one breeder? " Vaako's frigate - unlike the fighters - can travel great distances from the necro fleet.
Lord Marshal Don't question it, Vaako! Take it on faith. "
Dame Vaako He's always been unsettled around you... the Lord Marshal.
Unsteady.
Perhaps because he knows he's half the warrior you are... Some say he's too artistic for the job. I wouldn't be surprised if someone promoted him soon... to full dead.
" The clothing pattern of choice for Necromongers is called 'Mockodile' - this is most evident in Dame Vaako's dress.
Vaako Take care what you say. "
Dame Vaako Should I say it softly? "
Vaako So it sounds more like conspiracy? "
Dame Vaako Oh, why is it that when anyone breathes about the demise of him on the throne... everyone assumes a conspiracy?
Why isn't that just prudent planning?
"
Vaako When he is ready, he will name a successor. "
Dame Vaako Who? Toal? Scales? The Purifier?
None of them... with the strength, the dignity, of Lord Vaako.
You can keep what you kill...
"
Vaako Stop. Line missing
Dame Vaako That is the Necromonger way.

"

Vaako I said... stop. His death will come in due time and not a moment sooner. Rest of this scene missing in theatrical version
Dame Vaako Why?
Vaako Because I serve him. We all serve him. It's called fidelity.
Dame Vaako It's called stupidity.
(Is beaten by Vaako)
Well, finally some attention.

You have such greatness in you. If only you could see it like I do.
You know what I want?

Vaako Today I came up behind him in perfect silence and he knew.
Dame Vaako I wanna go down in Necropolis. Right now.
Vaako His half-dead soul sensed I was behind him. He sees everything.
Dame Vaako When no one is looking... when no one's around... I'm gonna get down on my knees... while you sit on the throne. In Necro relationships, they do have sex ut they do not procreate. As long as there are new converts, Necromongers won't hesitate to sacrifice or leave behind their own.

Look out for the next reference to ‚kneeling‘ in the director’s cut and laugh with me when it comes up...

Riddick (sitting in the merc ship and thinking aloud) This scene is missing in the extended version Mercenaries, Elementals, Necromongers – Shit, I’ve never been so popular.
Should probably slip these chains and open up a few arteries.
But why drive when you can get driven? Free ticket to Crematoria – thanks, Toombs.
Got me some business there named Jack. And once we’ve settled, I’ll walk away forever. So I’ll just wait – all back of the bus. For now.
I’ve rolled on the floor over the ‘Shit, I’ve never been so popular’ line. One of my favorite quotes in the movie.
Lord Marshal How unexpected. "
Dame Vaako An Elemental. Here. "
Vaako One of the captives. "
Lord Marshal And why, after 30 years, should it be you? "
Dame Vaako He doesn't regard her as a captive, though.
Elementals... they talk of neutrality, but they're all witches and spies. Why else would they come and go like the wind?
" There is popular scepticism that Elementals are as neutral as they claim
Lord Marshal But where has he gone? Where is the Furyan hiding now? "
Dame Vaako You be the good warrior. Go after this Riddick. I'll find out why the Lord Marshal is so threatened by him. "
Riddick Do you know you grind your teeth at night? Sexy. This scene with Eve Logan approaching Riddick at night is entirely missing from the theatrical cut. Must I mention that I much regretted this scene having been cut out and not, well, long enough in the Director’s cut? No? Well, I do.
Only scene in the movie that perfectly shows the quilted pattern on Riddick’s upper cargo pants... uhm... ya, I also have other reasons...
[Female Computer Voice] Destination reached. Unlocking manual controls. "
Eve Logan All right. I make 700 degrees on the day side, 300 below on the night side. "
Asian Merc Let's not get caught in the sun. "
Toombs If I owned this place and hell, I'd rent this place out and live in hell. "
[Female Computer Voice] Blue angle... good. "
Eve Logan Stand by. And... "
[Female Computer Voice] Plotted course good. "
Eve Logan Hit it! "
[Female Computer Voice] Angle of approach, not good. "
Merc #3 Look, Ma. No hands! "
Asian Merc Party poppers! "
Merc #1 I think I shit myself. "
Riddick Skittish, Toombs. Very skittish. "
Merc #1 Comfy?
When the ride's over, your goggles are mine.
"
Toombs Four-way split! " Mercs as a breed are notoriously greedy. They often say 'The creed is greed'.
Riddick Twenty-nine point four kilometres... "
Anatoli So, this is Riddick. "
Toombs What in the bowels of Christ are you talkin' about, 700 K? "
Big ward Don’t take this one, boss. "
Anatoli See? Anatoli here has a nose for trouble. And this one, this Riddick guy... "
Big ward Big, big trouble. "
Anatoli So, 700.000 is good money. "
Riddick I'd take the money, Toombs. "
Bald ward The guild pays us a caretaker's fee for each prisoner each year. We pay mercs 20 percent of that total fee based on a certain life expectancy. Line missing Woah! Life expectancy of whom? The prisoner, or, in Riddick’s case, the guards...?
Toombs How's about this? You open that safe you got hidden behind the console there, show me the real books, then we figure out my cut. Then I'll be on my way. Line missing
Anatoli Open my books. This is what you suggest? Line missing
Toombs Wasn't a suggestion. Line missing
Anatoli These are dangerous days, if you believe the talk. "
Toombs Talk? "
Anatoli About dead planets. About some ghost army. About them. "
Toombs "Them"? "
Anatoli I'll run the numbers again. It takes a couple of days, probably, so you can stay as my guest. At least here, we are all safe. Yes? "
Yes, boss. "
Toombs I'll give it a day. One. "
Guv There are inmates... and there are convicts.
A convict has a certain code. And he knows to show certain respect.
An inmate, on the other hand, pulls the pin on his fellow man. Does the guards' work for them. Brings shame...to the game.
So, which are you gonna be?
"
Riddick Me? I'm just passin' through. "
Guv Welcome to Crematoria. "
Kyra Should I go for the sweet spot? Left of the spine, fourth lumbar down, the abdominal aorta.
What a gusher.

How do I get eyes like that?
How do I get eyes like that? The 'sweet spot' is right between the 3rd and 4th vertebrae on the spine.

Riddick said something similar in Pitch Black.

Riddick You gotta kill a few people. " These are exact lines from ‘Pitch Black’.
Kyra [Chuckles]
Did that. Did a lot of that.
"
Riddick And then you gotta get sent to a slam. " These are exact lines from ‘Pitch Black’.
Kyra One where they tell you you'll never see daylight again?
Only there wasn't any doctor here who could shine my eyes, not even for 20 menthol Kools - Was there anything you said that was true?

What are you gonna do, huh? Go for the sweet spot?

" These are partial lines from ‘Pitch Black’.

Prison currency is typically cigarettes.
It is unknown whether Riddick's eyeshine is based on the same procedure as the hounds. It's just an animal thing.

(I have a helluva lotta information on the Riddick-eyeshine (universe-vise), but there’s not enough space to type it down here... – let it just be said that it’s obviously not a surgical nor animalic, but a Furyan feature – which Riddick is probably not aware of.)

Riddick Remember who you're talkin' to, Jack. "
Kyra Jack's dead. She was weak... She couldn't cut it.

The name's Kyra now. And I'm a new animal.

"
Purifier They can be quite a test, these deep runs... tests of our inner selves. Don't you find that true? This scene comes much later in the theatrical cut. Text is the same in both versions.
Vaako Some men do.
Purifier Just being so far from the armada, the mind can start to fill with strange thoughts, doubts. Don't you ever have doubts, Vaako?
Vaako Doubts?
Purifier About the campaign. About Lord Marshal.
Vaako First and always, I am a Necromonger commander. So if you're here to test my loyalty, you succeed only in testing my patience.
Purifier Oh, no. No, that's not why I'm here at all.
Dame Vaako I'm so glad I could steal you away for a moment. Doesn't it strike you odd? Here we have the current Lord Marshal... destroying entire societies, and yet he can't bring himself... to kill one stranded Elemental.
Why is that? You don't pray to our god. You pray to no god, I hear.
" Aereon can be bound by chains because she has mass. It's just transparent when she moves.
Her dress is made entirely of crushed Swarovski crystal.

Which, of course, is not quite right, even if it’s written in the ‚Riddick facts‘ (and "Swarovski" is spelled "Swarowsky" there...).
See my analysis of this costume; there’s nothing "crushed Crystal" there; except perhaps of some of the silk of her floor-length vest that has been slightly crushed into false Fortuny pleats...

Aereon Elementals... we calculate. " Elementals see Furyans as the opposite of Necromongers, so they want a war to rage between the two - leaving Elementals in control.
Dame Vaako Don't we all.
But now let's have first things first. What of Riddick?
"
Aereon In truth, I don't know where he went. "
Dame Vaako In truth, I'm more interested in where he came from.
Watch your step. I've always wondered, does an air Elemental fly? Now do me a favor. Calculate the odds of you getting off this planet alive... and now cut them in half.
"
Aereon No, we can't fly. But we glide very well.

Save your threats, Necromonger. I would have told you about Riddick for the asking.

It concerns a foretelling, a prediction now more than years old. A young warrior once consulted a seer. He was told a child would be born on the planet Furya... a male child... who would someday cause the warrior's downfall.

No, we can't fly. But we glide very well.

Save your threats, Necromonger. I would have told you about Riddick for the asking.

It concerns a foretelling, a prediction now more than 30 years old. A young warrior once consulted a seer...of sorts, and was told that he would die at the hands of a Furyan. So he waged a private war on the planet Furya, killing what he could find. This was before he became Lord Marshal, of course. That massacre should have ended that matter, but now it seems, one Furyan had a knack... for escape.

Dame Vaako [speaking to Vaako via the quasi-deads) Cause his untimed death. Scene of Dame Vaako speaking to Vaako via the Quasi-Deads is entirely missing in the theatrical version
Vaako Furya? Furya's a ruined world. No life to speak of.
Dame Vaako For good reason. This young warrior mounted an attack on Furya, killing all young males he could find, even strangling some with their birth cords.
An artful stroke, wouldn't you say?
Vaako So this warrior, the one who tried to outwit the prediction, would later become...
Dame Vaako That's why he worries.
Vaako The Lord Marshal. Which would make the man-child...
Dame Vaako He worries he missed killing that child in its crib.
Vaako Riddick. That's why it's so vital to him.
Dame Vaako Wait.
Vaako It's about a prophecy.
Dame Vaako Wait! Wait!
Vaako Are you there?
Dame Vaako You do what your lord asks. You cleanse Riddick for him, and in doing so... you prove your undying loyalty. And perhaps then he'll finally let down his guard.
Gov Still here, I see? I've been here 18 years. See this? I remember how gorgeous she was. Well, gorgeous in a certain light. And now, for the goddamn death of me, I can not remember her name. Line missing
[Voice over speaker] Feeding time!

"

The hellhounds are used as much for slam security as for the amusement of the guards.
Guv We're here for the rest of our unnatural lives. Line missing
Sniper Here they come!

"

Guv Whatever you do, don't make eye contact. Line missing
Guv (to the guards) Line missing A herd! A goddamn herd, is that all we are to you?
Riddick It's an animal thing. "
Bald ward Check her for me. She's always got a blade somewhere. "
Riddick I don't think she likes being touched. I'd take my wounded and go while you still can. "
Black ward Is there a name for this private little world of yours, huh? What happens there when we... don't just... run away? You'll kill us... with a soup cup? "
Riddick Tea, actually. "
Black ward What's that? "
Riddick I'll kill you with my teacup. "
Bald ward You know the rule. They aren't dead if they're still on the books. "
Black ward Mmm. "
Bald ward Come on. "
Kyra Death by teacup. Damn. Why didn't I think of that? " Life in the penal system teaches you how to make a sharp, lethal object out of just anything... anything.
Riddick I didn't come to play "Who's the Better Killer? '" "
Kyra But it's my favorite game. Haven't you heard? "
Riddick I heard you came lookin' for me. "
Kyra Is that all? Then you missed the good part.
Hooked up with some mercs outta Lupus Five. Said they'd take me on, teach me the trade, give me a good cut. They slaved me out, Riddick. Do you know what that could do to you when you're that age? When you're 12 years old?
" The Mercs slaved Kyra out to a pack of Rykengolls - brutal barbarians who tortured her. She killed them all.
Riddick I told you to stay in New Mecca.

[Shouts] Did you not listen? I had mercs on my neck. I'll always have mercs on my neck.
I spent five years on a frozen heap just to keep 'em away from you! And you go and sign up with th
